ADOPTION INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in adopting a cat from Queen City Cats! We are grateful for your help in saving precious lives of cats and kittens in our community. Please read all info below carefully!

Each adoption includes a cat who has been:

⦁ vet checked

⦁ spayed or neutered

⦁ vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines

⦁ de-wormed

⦁ microchipped

⦁ FIV/FeLV tested

⦁ treated for fleas and ticks (if necessary)

You will also receive:

⦁ a complimentary wellness exam by participating VT veterinarian of your choice

⦁ an enrichment item for your new cat or kitten

All of our cats will have spent time in foster care before transitioning to their forever homes. We provide a loving environment and all necessary vet care, but we also assess their demeanor and get to know their unique personalities so we can make the best possible match for them and for you, our adopters.

Based on our observations, their age and their history, some cats will require a home with another cat companion for their mental well-being. Cats are Social! Read more about that here: Adoption Considerations.

Kittens 6 months and under will be adopted out in pairs and bonded pairs (no matter their age) will also stay together. See more info on why here : Two Kittens Are Better Than One

When you adopt from QCC and sign our adoption contract, you agree to:

⦁ provide your cat companion with a safe and healthy indoor environment

⦁ provide a nutritious diet and fresh water daily (catinfo.org)

⦁ never punish or harm your cat in any way

⦁ never declaw your cat (pawproject.org)

⦁ provide vet care at the first sign of illness, injury or disease and to stay up to date on all necessary vaccines

⦁ responsibly care for your cat for the duration of his/her life which can be up to 20+ years

⦁ if the above becomes impossible and you feel relinquishment is the only option, you must make every effort to contact QCC and return the cat to our organization

ADOPTION PROCESS

If you are interested in any of our available cats, please fill out our adoption application below. Once we have received your completed response and have checked your references, we will email you and let you know if you've been approved to adopt or not. If you are an approved adopter, we will put you in touch with your preferred cat's foster parent to arrange an in-person meet and greet. If the meeting is successful, we can then schedule the adoption appointment.

Please note: if we feel your preferred cat(s) would not be a good fit for you or your household, we may suggest another cat who would better fit your lifestyle. This is at our discretion. If there are no other available cats, we will hold your application for up to 6 months.

Due to the number of requests we have for our services. Queen City Cats operates on a first come first served basis for approved adopters.

You must have your own secure cat carrier(s) when picking up your new companion(s). Otherwise, we will not be able to complete the adoption at that time.

The adoption fee must be paid in full at the time of the adoption meeting. We accept cash, check (with valid ID), Venmo and PayPal. Checks should be made out to Queen City Cats; Venmo is @queencitycatsvt; PayPal is queencitycatsvt@gmail.com

Adoption fees are as follows:

Single kitten (< 1 year old) = $150
Pair of kittens (< 1 year old) = $200
Adult cat (1- 8 years old) = $100
Pair of adults (1- 8 years old) = $150
Senior (8+ years old) = $75

Queen City Cats will be here to guide you even after you adopt one of our cats. Feel free to contact us with any questions or to give us updates on your new feline companion(s). We are always here for you and the kitties!
