QCC adoption contract

The prospective caregiver agrees:

1. Cats are to live in a private residence as companion animals.

2. To provide the cat with sufficient quantities of nutritious food and fresh water each day.

3. Never to strike or otherwise harm the cat.

4. Never to have the cat declawed.

5. To ensure that the cat’s vaccinations for rabies and distemper are current and to provide veterinary care upon sickness, disease or injury.

6. To assume all veterinary care, costs and responsibility once this agreement is signed.

7. If the cat must be relinquished for any reason by the prospective caregiver, s/he MUST NOT turn the cat over to a humane society, shelter or person, but must return the cat to Queen City Cats. The caregiver will make a good faith effort to contact Queen City Cats.

8. I understand that failure to perform the foregoing agreement will constitute a breach of contract. In the event of any such breach of contract, I authorize Queen City Cats to reclaim possession of the adopted cat.

***IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATION***

  • Applicants must be age 21 or older to adopt through Queen City Cats.

  • Incomplete applications may be denied- be sure to include all required information.

  • Queen City Cats operates on a first come, first served basis. If there are multiple approved adopters interested in a cat, we may consider the most suitable home for the cat. Note: If we feel your preferred cat(s) would not be a good fit for your household, we may suggest another cat who would better fit your lifestyle.

  • Queen City Cats will only adopt out kittens under the age of six months in pairs, unless there is a young cat or kitten in the home already. Cats over the age of six months can be adopted individually, but the needs of each cat will be considered. Bonded pairs will not be separated no matter their age. Click here to find out why two kittens are better than one!

  • Approved applications are held for six months; after six months you must re-apply.

  • All adoptions must be coordinated through Queen City Cats. We do not allow same day adoptions from Queen City Cat Lounge (if the meet and greet is not previously scheduled). We do allow same day adoptions from foster homes at the discretion of the adoption coordinator. We do not hold cats or kittens for unapproved potential adopters.

*Once we have received your completed application, we will email you within the next 2-3 days with any additional questions we may have. Our trained volunteers will begin to process your application and check with your references, current veterinarian and landlord (if applicable). When your application has been processed you will receive an approval or denial email (please check your mailbox for updates).

MEET AND GREETS

**Meet and greets will only be scheduled for current approved adopters**

QCC does not have a shelter location, therefore meet and greets will be scheduled with foster parents or staff members at Queen City Cat Lounge (if the cat resides at the Lounge). Approved adopters meeting cats at the Lounge will be scheduled for a complimentary 20 minute visit. If you wish to stay for a full hour visit you must pay the hourly booking fee via the Cat Lounge, queencitycatlounge.com.

Once you have found your match following the in-home meet and greet, foster cat adoption appointments must take place within 48 hours. Our foster parents CANNOT offer cat sitting services while adopters go on vacation.

If you are adopting a Lounge cat, the adoption appointment must be scheduled outside of busy weekend hours with the QCC adoption coordinator or director via email.

You must have your own secure cat carrier(s) when picking up your new companion(s). Otherwise, we will not be able to complete the adoption at that time.
